GET /youtube/v3/commentThreads → endpoint removal

Google APIs

Stopped working

On April 30, 2024, the channelId query parameter on GET /youtube/v3/commentThreads stopped working. Requests to GET /youtube/v3/commentThreads using this parameter now fail because the API no longer supports inserting or retrieving channel discussions.

Calls it hits

  • GET /youtube/v3/commentThreads
  • query parameter channelId

What to use instead of these calls

To read comments on the channel's videos, use allThreadsRelatedToChannelId instead. Channel discussions themselves have been removed and have no replacement.

YouTube removed channel discussions; nothing replaces reading them.

In Google APIs's words

The API no longer supports the ability to insert or retrieve channel discussions.
