# The Sources API is deprecated

Stripe API deprecated /v1/sources* without giving a shutdown date yet.

Stripe has deprecated the Sources API without announcing a shutdown date, with plans to remove support entirely. The change affects calls to /v1/sources* endpoints, which will eventually fail once support is removed.

## What to use instead

Collect and charge payment methods using the Payment Methods API (/v1/payment_methods) along with Payment Intents (/v1/payment_intents) or Setup Intents (/v1/setup_intents), following Stripe's Sources-to-PaymentMethods guide.

- API: Stripe API (api.stripe.com)
- Kind: Endpoint removal
- Takes effect: no date given yet
- Calls after that day: fail
- Calls it hits: `/v1/sources*`
- Source: [Announcement](https://docs.stripe.com/sources)
- Verified: October 26, 2026, against Stripe API's own pages

## Stripe API's words

> We’ve deprecated the Sources API and plan to remove support. If you currently use the Sources API, you must migrate to the Payment Intents and Payment Methods APIs.
