# The Global Catalog REST API stops working

Calls to /global/* on Shopify Global Catalog API stop working on November 2, 2026.

On November 2, 2026, the Global Catalog REST API stops serving traffic. Requests to the /global/* endpoints will fail after this date. This follows the deprecation announced on April 1, 2026.

- API: Shopify Global Catalog API (discover.shopifyapps.com)
- Kind: Endpoint removal
- Announced: April 1, 2026
- Takes effect: November 2, 2026
- Calls after that day: fail
- Calls it hits: `/global/*`

## What to use instead

Move each call to the Global Catalog MCP server. Use search_catalog for /global/v2/search, get_product for /global/v2/p/{upid} and by-variant lookups, and lookup_catalog for /global/v2/lookup. The move takes more than changing an identifier, as the integration must be rewritten for an MCP server with UCP catalog schemas rather than a REST endpoint.

The replacement is an MCP server with the UCP catalog schemas, not a REST endpoint: the integration is rewritten.
