# zip on GET /data/2.5/forecast/daily is deprecated

OpenWeather API deprecated GET /data/2.5/forecast/daily, query parameter zip without giving a shutdown date yet.

OpenWeather API deprecated the zip query parameter on the GET /data/2.5/forecast/daily endpoint without a shutdown date. The provider notes that the built-in geocoder is deprecated, and although it remains available for use, bug fixing and updates are no longer provided. Requests using this functionality are slated for removal and will eventually fail.

## What to use instead

Resolve the ZIP code with the Geocoding API using /geo/1.0/direct or /geo/1.0/zip, then call the endpoint with lat and lon instead.

- API: OpenWeather API (api.openweathermap.org)
