# The Candidates API is deprecated

Lever API deprecated /v1/candidates/* without giving a shutdown date yet.

Lever has deprecated the /v1/candidates/* endpoints without specifying a shutdown date. Calls made to these endpoints will eventually fail. The provider stated that these routes have been deprecated as of 2020 while remaining maintained for backwards compatibility.

## What to use instead

Call the Opportunities endpoints (/v1/opportunities and /v1/opportunities/{opportunity}/...) instead of /v1/candidates/.... The candidate id serves as the opportunity id.
