# The Mailbox API 1.0 is deprecated

Help Scout API deprecated /v1/* without giving a shutdown date yet.

The legacy Mailbox API 1.0 was deprecated on November 20, 2019, without an announced shutdown date. This change affects all requests made to the /v1/* endpoints. Once retired, unsupported calls to these endpoints fail.

## What to use instead

Migrate to the Inbox (Mailbox) API 2.0. This upgrade requires switching authentication from API-key basic auth to OAuth 2.0 using either client credentials or authorization code flows.
