# The Distance Matrix API (Legacy) is deprecated

Google Maps Platform deprecated GET /maps/api/distancematrix/* without giving a shutdown date yet.

## What to use instead

Migrate to the Routes API (computeRouteMatrix on routes.googleapis.com).

The Routes API is a separate API to enable on the Cloud project, with its own SKUs and pricing, and needs the X-Goog-FieldMask header, so the team decides when and how to move.
