# The Analytics Reporting API v4 stops working

Calls to /v4/* on Google Analytics Reporting API v4 stopped working on July 1, 2024.

On July 1, 2024, the Google Analytics Reporting API v4 was retired. All requests to the /v4/* endpoints fail now that Universal Analytics has sunset and is no longer available. Calls to these paths receive errors rather than report data.

## What to use instead

Switch to reporting on a Google Analytics 4 property using the Google Analytics Data API. Moving involves more than updating an endpoint, as Universal Analytics data does not transfer and reports require a GA4 property along with new dimensions and metrics.

Universal Analytics data does not move: the reports need a GA4 property and new dimensions and metrics.
