# Calls without the X-GitHub-Api-Version header are redirected to a newer version

From March 10, 2028, GitHub REST API answers calls to no x-github-api-version header from a newer version.

On March 10, 2028, GitHub REST API version 2022-11-28 reaches its end of support. Requests with no x-github-api-version header previously defaulted to this version. Starting on that date, requests that omit the header are redirected to the next oldest supported version rather than the retiring one.

## What to use instead

Send X-GitHub-Api-Version: 2026-03-10 and make the updates required by its breaking changes list. Past that date, calls omitting the header are answered from the next oldest supported version.

## GitHub REST API's words

> Requests without the X-GitHub-Api-Version header will default to use the 2022-11-28 version. Requests that do not specify an API version default to the next oldest supported version, not the closing down version. API version: 2022-11-28; End of support date: March 10, 2028.

Okapi finds the calls this change hits in your repo and opens the pull request with the fix: https://github.com/apps/okapi-agent
