# category pdf, github and tweet on POST /search is deprecated

Exa API deprecated POST /search, body parameter category without giving a shutdown date yet.

The Exa API deprecated the pdf, github, and tweet values for the body parameter category on the POST /search endpoint on July 23, 2026, without a shutdown date. Calls passing these deprecated values to the endpoint will fail. Review your search requests to identify any usage of these specific category options.

## What to use instead

Use other search categories, such as publication for scholarly results, instead of the deprecated values.
