# The Merchandising API is deprecated

eBay Merchandising API deprecated /MerchandisingService* without giving a shutdown date yet.

All calls in the eBay Merchandising API under /MerchandisingService* were deprecated on July 29, 2024, without a set shutdown date. The provider announced that the entire interface will be decommissioned at a later date. Once decommissioned, affected requests will fail.

## What to use instead

Move item discovery to the Browse API at api.ebay.com/buy/browse/v1. The transition requires more than updating an identifier because eBay names no direct one-to-one replacement for most-watched and similar-items calls, leaving the choice of Browse API search as a product decision.

eBay names no one-to-one replacement for most-watched and similar-items calls: which Browse API search replaces them is a product decision.
