# API V1 (/api) stops working

Calls to /api on BaseScan API stopped working on August 15, 2025.

On August 15, 2025, BaseScan API V1 will be fully deprecated and requests will fail. This change affects calls to the /api endpoint. After that day, all V1 requests will stop working.

## What to use instead

Call api.etherscan.io/v2/api with the same module, action, and other query parameters, and include chainid for the target chain. An Etherscan API key covers every supported chain.

- API: BaseScan API (api.basescan.org)
- Kind: Version retirement
- Announced: July 30, 2025
- Takes effect: August 15, 2025
- Calls after that day: fail
- Calls it hits: `/api`
